How To Look Mysterious In An Arabian Costume

Why not think about an Arabian costume for your next Halloween or fancy dress event? It's definitely an exotic and mysterious look! If you've ever read 1001 Arabian Nights, you can imagine that you're entering such a world, full of genies and beautiful harem girls, belly dancers, sheiks and sultans.

You will be spoilt for choice: there is an amazing variety of Arabian costumes. If you're a man, why not become an Genie or Lawrence of Arabia. Aladdin is a great choice also. If you've ever read Mills and Boon or Harlequin Books, you are probably familiar with stories of beautiful young women falling for the handsome and rich Sheik. What girl wouldn't want to be seduced by a Sheikh and live happily ever after in his desert kingdom?

A sultan, sheik or Arab Prince, as powerful rulers of their people, would wear clothes in rich colors such as reds, purples and gold. There is little to choose from between a Sheik, Sultan or Prince, they would wear similar type outfits such as a long tunic top, sash, loose fitting pants that are tight around the ankles, or perhaps a long robe and a turban wrapped around the head. If you want something a bit different how about a Dastan, Prince of Persia costume? His costume is an armor-like top and he is usually brandishing a sword. I think it's a costume that will attract female attention!

The ladies have a very wide choice of beautiful costumes from belly dancers to harem princesses. Belly dancers are characterised by wearing more ornate costumes with lots of necklaces, anklets and bracelets. The material of these costumes is sheer and flowing and attractively colored. The female costumes usually have loose fitting pantaloon or harem pants which gather at the ankles. A long skirt is an alternative. The top is usually a short top that shows the midriff or is like a bra. Always there mouths would be covered with sheer scarf so only the eyes would be revealed. For a belly dancer costume that add a hip scarf or a belt that's decorated with coins and plenty of jangling jewelry. You could take your inspiration from Jeannie from "I Dream of Jeannie", one of my favorite tv series when I was young. To get into the mood, you would also watch movies like "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Ali Baba And The Forty Thieves" and don't forget the recently release "Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time!.
